Wizz Air launched the Budapest-Dortmund route

Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe opened its Budapest – Dortmund route this morning. The first flight took off from Liszt Ferenc International Airport with 121 passengers on board at 11:15 local time.

The airline offers the new Budapest – Dortmund service two times a week (Mondays and Fridays), and will increase the frequency to 3 flights per week from 27 March (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

With this new route there is 23 major European cities and popular holiday destinations accessible from Budapest with Wizz Air.

Wizz Air carried over 11 million passengers in 2011, representing 15% growth year on year. Average load factor reached over 84%, in line with previous years.

Wizz Air carried more than 11 million passengers in the last 12 months. The airline's fleet currently consists of 34 Airbus A320 aircraft operating from 15 bases, in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Serbia and Lithuania.
